If you are a small-batch, custom knifemaker, we'd be honored to work with you. We offer a variety of services to prep your blades, including our world-famous Paul Bos Heat Treat.
Blade Prep Services
Steel Heat Treatment:
Pricing below is per steel type, for blades up to 10", and includes up to two (2) tempers and cryo.
1-4 blades: $25 per blade
5-19 blades: Flat Rate of $115 per steel type
20+ blades: Flat Rate of $115 per steel type + $5/blade for each blade over 19 units

Buck is able to process any steel type.
Blades over 10“ will incur an additional charge of $1 per extra inch, up to 36”.
Cost includes oil quench for blades up to 12" (from butt to tip).
All orders will include a one-time $7.50 handling fee.

Spring Temper: $1.50 each
Additional Charges
Extensive Cleaning or Straightening: $75.00/hour
Cutting Stock to Length: $2.75 per cut

Shipping and Packaging Instructions
Please download and fill out the PaulBos Heat Treat form and include it in your shipment.
Prepare Your Knives for Shipment:
Scribe, etch, or write your name and the blade material on the tangs of each of your knives.
Clean grinding and buffing compounds from blades and out of any holes.
Clean burrs from all features.
Make sure blades are straight.
Knives that require cleaning or straightening upon arrival will be charged a prep fee at a rate of $75.00/hour.
Package Your Knives Securely:
DO NOT tape blades together. Please roll 4 or 5 blades in double newspaper with tangs out, then tape around the paper.
Pack the product in a sturdy box with plenty of packing paper to ensure no movement. PLEASE, DO NOT USE PACKING PEANUTS.
Package weight must not exceed 40 lbs per box for the safety of our employees.
DO NOT put “Custom Knives” anywhere on the label, box, order form, or product. This will help reduce the possibility of theft.

How to Pay
Once we receive your order, you will be sent an invoice with all expected charges, including the cost of return shipping. Payment must be paid in full, prior to Buck beginning your service.
