SAFE USE
Knives are extremely sharp tools and should only be used with care and caution. Always read and obey the operating instructions included with your Buck® knife, whether included in or on the package or available online at buckknives.com, especially all safety warnings and instructions regarding safe use, maintenance, and care.
Always keep safety in mind when using a knife. Here are some tips for using your Buck® knife safely:
DO
Always know how your Buck® knife operates. Become familiar with its features, and practice opening and closing it safely before using it.
Always firmly grip the handle when opening or closing your Buck® knife, and keep your fingers clear of the blade.
Always keep your Buck® knife pointed in a safe direction. Make sure to keep other parts of your body clear and maintain a safe distance from other people and things.
Always thoroughly explain knives and knife safety to children in your household. Clearly explain that knives are tools, not toys, and ensure they are fully aware of how to handle and care for a knife safely.
Always keep your Buck® knife clean, maintained, and in working order. Dirt, foreign substances, and worn or broken parts increase the risk that your Buck® knife will not function properly.
Always keep your folding Buck® knife closed and your fixed blade Buck® knife sheathed or in a knife block when not in use.
Always keep your automatic or assisted opening Buck® knife sheathed when not in use.
Always engage the safety on your knife, if it has one, and keep it engaged when not in use.
Always be sure to use your Buck® knife only for its intended use and in accordance with the instructions.
DO NOT
Do not use your Buck® knife to pry, twist, hammer or chisel.
Do not use your Buck® knife for anything other than cutting. Any other use is misuse.
Do not throw your Buck® knife. Buck® knives are not intended for throwing. If you throw your knife, you risk damage to your knife and serious injury to yourself or others.
Do not try to push past resistance when putting your Buck® knife back in its sheath. If you push past resistance, you may risk serious personal injury. Instead, make sure the blade is correctly positioned and the blade should slide easily back into the sheath.
Do not clip your Buck® knife to your belt. Clip it to the outside of your pocket, or carry it loose in your pocket. Carrying a knife loose in your pocket, especially an automatic or assisted opening knife, increases the risk that the knife will open when not intended or otherwise cause serious personal injury.
Do not use your Buck® knife if, for any reason, the blade does not lock into the “open” or “locked” position, and contact Buck® Knives Customer Care immediately.
Do not attempt to take apart your Buck® knife. Doing so may make your knife unsafe and likely voids our Buck® Knives Forever Warranty. If your Buck® knife is in need of repair, please contact Buck® Knives Customer Care.
In addition to potentially voiding our Buck® Knives Forever Warranty, Buck® Knives is not responsible for damage or injury resulting from the misuse or abuse of our products, including failure to follow the operating instructions or these Safe Use guidelines.
