They recognize those craftsmen that came before them, the importance of that knowledge being passed down, and how their individual roles contribute to the legacy of handmade custom knives at Buck.

Meet Jim
Jim Whyte is the lead in Cell 14. After 36 years of crafting knives by hand, he has a handle on our Custom Knife Shop. Jim also brings his attention to detail into the world of competitive remote-control boat racing, building his own gas-powered vessels and becoming the circuit champion of 2024.

Meet Andrew
Andrew Avoux cannot be missed on the Buck Knives factory floor here in Idaho. His presence is felt every day, not only for the years of craftsmanship he brings to the Custom Knife Shop, but also for his iconic Tarzan yell at 4 PM, signaling to everyone that it's time to wrap up for the day.

Meet Joel
Joel Zamora has been handmaking knives for over six years. When he was young, his family always carried Buck Knives. Joel was forging and crafting his own knives in his garage when a neighbor suggested applying to Buck. Since that day, Joel has honed his skills, and eventually, he became part of Buck’s revered Custom Knife Shop.

Meet Jeff
Jeff Legerton is a highly regarded knifemaker and the most senior craftsman at Buck Knives. With 41 years of experience in the industry, he has mastered the art of knife design and production, significantly contributing to Buck's legacy of quality and innovation in the Custom Knife Shop. Outside of his work, Jeff is also an avid homebrewer, having won awards for his exceptional beer.

Meet Tappy
Eric “Tappy” Tapec has honed his knife-making skills at Buck for nearly two decades. When he began, he relocated from the San Diego area to Idaho with the company, and over the years, he has emerged as one of the most talented knifemakers on the shop floor.
